Jonathan, “evasive” or “misleading” might fit the bill if you want to be critical. “Dishonest” and “lying” are probably too strong. Here’s an Evangelical breakdown of the questions that I felt was reasonably fair:

Thank you for the link. Their answers were much better (and even pretty fair to boot!) than the official answers. I would quibble with some of them like the answer about the cult label, but pretty good.

I feel justified in calling the church’s collection of answers lying because of the cumulative effect of all that evasion. If I didn’t know better, I would be led to believe that the LDS church teaches something completely different than it does; I would be deceived. My gold standard of honesty requires the whole truth.

I’ve been thinking about this. If I could define Mormon by the concept of drawing in all truth and circumscribing it into one whole, then I could accept the label. I’m afraid though that using the label with anyone except myself would lead to endless confusion.

Probably true, but I’m still not sure what benefits come with calling myself Mormon that would outweigh the negatives.
