Police Taser Seizure Victim 12 Times
I avoid posting all the police abuse stuff that I hear about if for no other reason than that there’s so much of it. The quantity threatens to make me blasé about the subject. This story (and others) makes me shake my head in disbelief.
Police tasered a 17-year-old boy who was in paramedics’ care because he had a seizure. When he woke up, he became disoriented and frightened due to a condition known as postictal psychosis. He struck a paramedic and the police attempted to restrain him by tasering him twelve times!
The police and paramedics lied in their reports stating that he had only been tasered twice despite ample physical evidence to the contrary.
The idea that the taser is nonlethal makes us too willing to use it. Tasering someone twelve times is excessive. It’s fortunate that this didn’t end in tragedy.

This sort of thing gets me so upset. My schizophrenic, homeless brother died while in LAPD custody. I don’t know what happened exactly, but the medical records while he was in the hospital for ~45 days as a John Doe, unconscious, sure looked to my mom’s doctor who reviewed them like someone who got the shit beat out of them. He had had seizures, too. Who knows. We kept getting different stories everytime we talked to the cops. I know my other brother knows more about this, but really, I don’t want to know.
But yeah, one could become blase about it. I mean, LAPD? How stereotypical can my story be?

TAG,
I apologize for my late reply. I’ve been rather lackluster about blogging on my own blog for a while.
I continue to grieve with you over the treatment of your brother. His life is an example of why I have such a hard time taking the idea of a loving, personal God seriously.
