Dalai Lama Persecutes Worshipers of Shugden
It’s hard to get objective evidence about the Dalai Lama. To some he’s a god—never a good sign—known for teaching compassion, understanding, and peace. The facts seem to belie that public persona.
Al Jazeera and France 24 have reported on the conflict within the Tibetan community over the worship of the Buddhist deity Dorje Shugden. Many Shugden worshipers have ties with the People’s Republic of China.
In short, the Dalai Lama is primarily a political figure who—in the guise of a living god—has become religious persecutor.

Thank you for drawing attention to this. There was a recent pronouncement from Dharamsala just a few days ago to reiterate the ban on this practice for “religio-political reasons”, which described the Dalai Lama as the “overall head of all Buddhist traditions ON THIS EARTH” (actually, he is not even the head of any of the four schools of Tibetan Buddhism). He has slowly assumed more and more power over his people and used this power to persecute practitioners of Dorje Shugden, a Dharma Protector who has been relied upon for almost four hundred years, including by the Dalai Lama’s own precious teachers. It is truly shocking that he is getting away with it, but hard to get the press to investigate due to the immense hype that surrounds him in the West. Kudos to Al Jazeera and France 24 for doing these documentaries. There are other ways of finding out more — such as through the blog http://www.wisdombuddhadorjeshugden.org
Just one thing to point out, most Dorje Shugden practitioners in India (who are the ones being ostracized and segregated) do not have any ties to China. They are as patriotic as any other Tibetans.
