I am grateful…
- … for birdsong and mown grass in the morning.
- … for music.
- … to be healthy and alive.
- … for culture, the vehicle of human nature, wisdom, and values.
- … to have a place in my little family.

I am grateful for …
- … shelter from the elements. My relationship with the weather is much better knowing that I can get some me-time away from it.
- … beautiful vernal weather. (+25 points for using a vocabulary word)
- … a healthy mind. I realize something of how fragile that is.
- … a long weekend with my family.
- … that I am capable of thinking for myself and that I do so on occasion.

I am grateful…
- … to have landed safely despite one of the bumpiest flights I’ve ever had.
- … for waking up and watching a crescent moon rise over the mountains through the window next to my bed.
- … for modern technology that allows me to talk to my family even though I’m hundreds of miles away.
- … for a sunny day to warm me up with a cool breeze to cool me off, keeping me at the perfect temperature while I ate lunch.
- … for an extended family that get along with each other.

I am grateful…
- … that all the math that is involved in my current class is soaking in. I’ve finally learned how to study regularly.
- … for the generous spirit that pervades the intertubes and leads us to share our knowledge with others. Case in point: Academic Earth.
- … for the family-focused attitude that I learned from my own family, and yes, the Mormon church.
- … for all the wonderful books out there, more than I’ll ever be able to read.
- … to live without constant fear.

I am grateful for …
- … my older daughter: her curiousity, her intellectual enthusiasm, how considerate of others’ feelings she can be, how loving she is.
- … my younger daughter: her joi d’vivre, her tender heart, her beautiful laugh, her willingness to share.
- … my wife who treats me better than she should and is generally more wonderful than I deserve.
- … the clothes on my back: that they’re clean, that I don’t have to wear the same clothes every day, that I don’t have to walk around naked (I’m sure it’s not as fun as it sounds).
- … the internet and how connected it is making our world.
