Five Things

I am grateful…

  1. … for birdsong and mown grass in the morning.
  2. … for music.
  3. … to be healthy and alive.
  4. … for culture, the vehicle of human nature, wisdom, and values.
  5. … to have a place in my little family.

Five Things

I am grateful for …

  1. … shelter from the elements. My relationship with the weather is much better knowing that I can get some me-time away from it.
  2. … beautiful vernal weather. (+25 points for using a vocabulary word)
  3. … a healthy mind. I realize something of how fragile that is.
  4. … a long weekend with my family.
  5. … that I am capable of thinking for myself and that I do so on occasion.

Five Things

I am grateful…

  1. … to have landed safely despite one of the bumpiest flights I’ve ever had.
  2. … for waking up and watching a crescent moon rise over the mountains through the window next to my bed.
  3. … for modern technology that allows me to talk to my family even though I’m hundreds of miles away.
  4. … for a sunny day to warm me up with a cool breeze to cool me off, keeping me at the perfect temperature while I ate lunch.
  5. … for an extended family that get along with each other.

  2. … that I kind of knew what I was doing on my midterm.
  3. … that my garden lasted through the winter.
  4. … that I didn’t turn out to be a horrible father (you never know for sure).
  5. … for a supportive partner who helps me in many ways big and small.

Five Things

I am grateful…

  1. … that all the math that is involved in my current class is soaking in. I’ve finally learned how to study regularly.
  2. … for the generous spirit that pervades the intertubes and leads us to share our knowledge with others. Case in point: Academic Earth.
  3. … for the family-focused attitude that I learned from my own family, and yes, the Mormon church.
  4. … for all the wonderful books out there, more than I’ll ever be able to read.
  5. … to live without constant fear.
