Reviews in 50 Word Or Less: Wall-E and Dharma Bums

Wall-E

In the first Pixar film to choke me up with emotion, Wall-E is more lovable than R2-D2. I couldn’t help but connect with him and his bumbling, sincere naïveté.

The Dharma Bums

With breathless, stream-of-consciousness enthusiasm that isn’t in style anymore, Keroac writes a love poem to people, mountains, and Bodhisattvas. It makes me want to hop a freight train and leave the world behind (for just a while).

I saw Wall-E with my significant other, and yes, he tried to squeeze my hand a couple of times. :) I have to admit, the funnies part for me was when the space ship tilted and all of the inhabitants fell out of their space chairs (heehee). Even though the message of the movie was to “pick-up after yourself”, it didn’t feel like I was being scolded and that is always a good thing.

I felt bad for the people at the bottom of the pile. I mean they have vestigial skeletons. I can only imagine the organ damage. ;)

I have not seen Wall-E yet, but I have heard reports that it is the best Pixar movie yet.

I had the same reaction to Dharma bums, I did not hop a freight but I did do some traveling. Japhy Ryder is based on the poet Gary Snyder, you might enjoy his work.

I’ll have to look up Gary Snyder. Thank you.

Have you seen on the bloggernacle the folks who say this is more proof of the evil designs of liberals?  Some are funny, though.  (“It could have just as easily been written by Al Gore and entitled “An Inconvenient Truth 2: The Space Years.”)  I comprehend that some think global warming isn’t real, but really, even if it were, how could conservation be bad?  And here’s another fun read about it, if you can get through all the comments!
